Miami (OH) Transfer Sets Visit Date to Oklahoma State
After extending a scholarship offer to transfer point guard Michael Weathers this week, the Miami of Ohio freshman has set up a visit to Stillwater at the end of this month. According to a report from ESPN’s Jeff Goodman and Jeff Borzello, Weathers will visit Nevada on April 14, Arkansas on April 17th, Xavier on April 20th, Oklahoma State on April 25th, and Miami on April 30th.
As a freshman last season, Weathers averaged 16.7 points, 4.8 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game and earned MAC freshman of the year honors.
The 6-foot-2 point guard from Overland Park, Kansas, played under John Cooper at Miami of Ohio and has stated one reason for his transfer is to play closer to home.
John Cooper was fired from the school after the season but hired by Oklahoma State head coach Mike Boynton last week, perhaps an attempt to gain an advantage on the competition for Weathers and his brother, Marcus — both of which averaged double figures last season for the Redhawks.
