National Signing Day Superlatives

Published

on

Oklahoma State wrapped up national signing day on Wednesday with a boom, and overall the past week has been a whirlwind finish for the Cowboy coaching staff. Here’s the superlatives for the 2016 class and a little projections I have on some of the players.

Best dressed: Devin Harper

Biggest surprise: Calvin Bundage

Bundage was said to be considering OSU along with Oregon, Arizona and Arizona State (with Oklahoma as a finalist as well). It seemed as if OSU was set to finish second behind one of the Arizona schools, but Bundage made Glenn Spencer really happy and probably made some Oregon fans cry by committing to the Pokes in a ceremony on Wednesday afternoon.

Biggest sleeper: Dillon Stoner

Almost every commit in the class was rated as a three-star prospect, so this one could go in a number of directions. One recruit who I continue to mention is Jenks Oklahoma receiver Dillon Stoner. Stoner is coming from a championship winning culture and is an electric athlete with great hands who could be a valuable punt returner or slot receiver. The kid can flat out work, too. Going from a head coach like Allan Trimble to Mike Gundy should make for a seamless transition. He may not be the highest rated by recruiting services, but this guy deserves more attention.

Biggest: Tramonda Moore

Tramonda Moore is the biggest recruit. Period. He’s listed at 6-6, 350lbs but Gundy said in his press conference this morning he is sitting around 340-lbs. Either way, Tramonda Moore is not small.

Biggest signing day disappointment: Audie Omotosho

Omotosho was a four-star receiver who made an official visit to UCLA last weekend, and apparently that visit was enough to lure him away from Plano, Texas. Of all the receivers OSU was pursuing, Omotosho had the biggest upside. OSU finished second in his recruitment, but as the saying goes, if ya ain’t first…

Most loyal: Tyler Brown

Brown’s a straight up small-town kid with a big body and even bigger upside. He’s an offensive guard who can move really well and has the technique to maul you and make your day miserable as a defensive lineman. The Sooners jumped into the race on signing day by extending a scholarship offer, but T-Brown said nah. I’m already a big fan.

Biggest upside: Keondre Wudtee

Wudtee is a 6-4 quarterback from Parkway High in Bossier City, LA. He threw for more than 3,000 yards and 29 TD’s a senior, garnering scholarship offers from Mizzou, TCU, and OSU late in the process. He has great accuracy with his deep ball and, more importantly, can deliver dimes on the run. His mobility is what makes him the most intriguing. He has a tendency to throw off his heels, but with college coaching to perfect his technique he has an opportunity to become an electrifying athlete and dual-threat quarterback. He can escape pressure with his legs and his film is downright exciting to watch.

Best name: There’s not even a close second on this one. The Canadian linebacker takes home the prize:
