You Need to Look at the Length of Mike Gundy’s Mullet
On Monday, OSU’s annual CvC Cowboy Classic golf tournament took place at Stillwater Country Club in Stillwater. The tournament doubles as a get together and blowout fundraiser (it raised $75,000 last year) that includes OSU celebrity golfers like Mike Gundy, Mike Boynton and John Smith, among others.
There is a hole-in-one shootout and a celebrity auction as part of the festivities, but far-and-away the most fascinating piece of celebrity material on hand was the hair of head football coach Mike Gundy. This photo from the front is eye-popping.

But from the back? My gosh. I have no idea how this thing is tamed inside a Nike cap.

That’s incredible.
At this point, I think Gundy has more reasons to keep it than cut it. Gundy’s mullet might be embarrassing to his kids (whose dad isn’t embarrassing, anyway?), but he’s slowly building his mullet into a national brand. It’s not helped him achieve celebrity status like ‘the rant’ did back in the day, but recruits are very aware of the Arkansas Waterfall and all its flowing glory.
Gundy also has the No. 13 ranked recruiting class nationally, No. 2 in the Big 12, and is on pace for one of his best recruiting classes since he took over in Stillwater. As his hair has grown, the Pokes have risen steadily in the rankings. Cut it, and you might risk losing your recruiting strength like Samson.
The mullet is here to stay.
