Notable Recruits Filing into Town for Spring Game
Oklahoma State’s spring football game will attract many top recruits from across the nation this weekend. They’ll get a chance to see the Cowboys in action, check out the facilities firsthand, and get invaluable facetime with coaches who have been recruiting them. Here’s several notable recruits expected to make the haul this weekend to Stillwater for unofficial recruiting visits:
Tracin and Tylan Wallace – QB/WR
Tracin and Tylan are the twin standouts Mike Gundy landed commitments from just weeks ago. The two seem to be all-in on OSU already, helping recruit on social media and will now get a chance to meet some of their fellow recruits in person for the first time after their commitment.
Darrell Simpson – Offensive Line
Simpson is a mammoth 6-foot-7, 320-lb offensive tackle in the 2018 class who is already a local sensation with offers from OU, TCU, Baylor, Texas Tech, OSU, SMU and others. The big-time offensive tackle will be making another trip after coming down during last season to catch a game. The Cowboys have been in on him for awhile, and the continuity with offensive line coach Greg Adkins should definitely help OSU’s chances.
Ty Thomas – Safety
Thomas was the first commit of the 2017 class. And a very valuable one. The Cowboys are going to be desperate for help at safety next year, so depth with Thomas will be critical. The 6-foot, 200-lb. standout is still garnering offers even after his commitment. Most recently from West Virginia and Arizona State.
Montaric Brown – Safety
Brown is a prime example of the recruiting prowess of the Oklahoma State staff. They became the first to offer in mid-February. Since then, SEC bullies LSU, Arkansas and Alabama have also joined the list of offers. The No. 1 player in Arkansas is showing big interest in OSU, thanks in part to their being the first team to offer.
Jelani Woods – Quarterback
Woods has named South Carolina as his favorite in the recruiting process, but Oklahoma State, who offered not long ago, is obviously in the mix. Woods is making the haul from Ellenwood, Georgia, so the interest is clearly mutual. Oklahoma State has had decent success recruiting in that particular area of Georgia, snagging defensive back Kirk Tucker from Tucker, GA in 2015.
Logan Tuley-Tillman – Offensive Line
Tuley-Tillman is a 6-7, 310-lb. offensive lineman who is eligible via the graduate transfer rule with two years eligibility remaining. He was dismissed from Michigan last football season after having only played one game in Ann Arbor, so perhaps a fresh start in Stillwater would serve him well.
Alex Fontenont – Running back
Fontenont is one of several recent offers at running back. The George Ranch standout had a big year as a backup last season, and is in line for a monstrous senior season. If the Cowboys can lock him down early, it would be a huge feat for Marcus Arroyo and the gang.
