Notebook: Oklahoma State-Kansas State
• What in the world is up with that free throw routine D.J. Johnson does? Gilbert Arenas thinks that’s bizarre.
• One thing that sort of frustrates me about Ford is when he acts like somebody is on his death bed (Mitch Solomon) and they invariably start the next game. I’m not saying Solomon didn’t tough out an injury (he did), but Ford needs to back off the “I DON’T KNOW IF HE CAN GO WHAT WILL WE DO IF HE DOESN’T” business.
• OSU has to lead the country in shot clock violations, right?
• Kansas State shoots 30 percent from three and holds opponents to 31 percent. Worst and best in the Big 12. I wonder if any team has ever been sub-30 in both categories.
• Should it have surprised me to see that Jeffrey Carroll shoots 41 percent from the field?
• There was a certain excitement to the game to me knowing what was waiting for me on the other side of this season.
• One thing I love about Ford is the unintentional comedy of his irrational confidence. There was a possession late in the game when Griffin tried to throw Carroll an oop on a fast break and it want sorely awry. The camera cut to Ford who let out a massive, “SH**!” What did you think was going to happen with those two on a fast break and an oop involved?
• This was a real note I took: Hammonds fouling with 10 seconds on the shot clock with a minute left. WTF
• OSU was wearing Nike shirts that said, “Bring Your Game.” My dad texted me thinking they said “Bring Doug Home.”
• The OSU season in six seconds.

• Not OSU (or Big 12) related, but this was unbelievable.
I … I have a lot of questions https://t.co/LvcdOAQ7IF

• Joe Burton played pretty well on Wednesday. Also, he and Tavarius Shine were taking Steph-like heat checks which was both hilarious and awesome.
• Tyree Griffin has played 413 of a possible 440 minutes since Jawun Evans went down. Sweet mercy that is not good.
• I like how everyone talks about Oklahoma State’s injuries as if Travis Ford filed a patent on them with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
• Perfect.
John Higgins calling opening game of Big 12 Tournament is perfect. Like Jack, Arnie & Gary Player hitting the opening tee shot at Augusta.
