Oklahoma State Goes for Fourth 10-Win Season in Six Tries on Saturday

Published

on

Oklahoma State has six 10-win seasons in 114 attempts. Those seasons: 2013, 2011, 2010, 1988, 1987 and 1984. That’s the entire list. On Saturday, as 14-point favorites in Ames, they have a chance to make that seven 10-win seasons and four in the last six years. That’s pretty crazy. Even crazier? Mike Gundy was the coach or QB for five of the previous six and (hopefully) six of the seven.

It would also be OSU’s 12th straight win overall which would surpass the 2010-11 team which won 11 in a row. The longest streak in school history is 13 in a row from 1944-46.

Lastly, Mason Rudolph is poised to slide into the third slot for most passing yards in a single season. If he throws for 312, he will, with 3,146 yards, only trail Brandon Weeden’s 2010 season (4,277 yards) and Brandon Weeden’s 2011 season (4,727 yards) in school history. His average? 315 per game. That will shatter the third-place season all time which is Josh Fields at 242 per game.
