Where Does Oklahoma State Rank in 2016 Preseason Top 25s?
Stewart Mandel released an updated college football top 25 earlier this week and regretted buying on Oklahoma State earlier in the spring. He didn’t have OSU listed in his new top 25 poll which means, well, not much on May 10.
But after reading that and this post on 11W about where Ohio State was ranked in various polls, I thought it might be fun to take a look at the same with our Pokes.
Turns out there are a lot of five-month early top 25 polls. Here’s a look at where Oklahoma State ranks in eight national polls.
| ESPN | CBS | SI | Fox | B/R | Yahoo | SN | USAT | Coach |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| No. 15 | No. 16 | No. 18 | N/R | No. 23 | No. 21 | No. 16 | No. 20 | No. 19 |
SN = Sporting News
USAT = USA Today
If you presume that Mandel dropped Oklahoma State to, say, 30th then the average here is just under 20 at 19.9). Oklahoma State has finished better than 20th just four times in the Mike Gundy Era in the AP Poll.
2008: No. 16
2010: No. 13
2011: No. 3
2013: No. 17
Depending on how the bowl game goes, I can see this team being relatively equivalent with that 2008 or 2013 team. The problem, as we all know, is the schedule. At OU. At TCU. At Baylor. At Kansas State. Not ideal.
But at least there’s going to be excitement going in.
