Oklahoma State Ranked No. 8 in New College Football Playoff Rankings

Oklahoma State is ranked No. 8 in the new College Football Playoff rankings. Inexplicably. I do not understand. Here are the top 10.

1. Clemson
2. Alabama
3. Ohio State
4. Notre Dame
5. Iowa (!)
6. Baylor
7. Stanford
8. Oklahoma State
9. LSU
10. Utah

And I have questions. Everyone does. Like, why Stanford which lost to Northwestern 16-6 and which claims a best win over No. 23 UCLA is No. 7 ahead of undefeated Oklahoma State. That is absolutely inexplicable.

Also, how about this?

Iowa labors to beat Indiana and goes from 9 to 5 to jump Baylor?

And how about Baylor — WHICH HASN’T BEATEN A TEAM WITH A WINNING RECORD — being ahead of us?

The upside of all of this (and I’m actually sort of glad this is what’s happening).

We will look more at this tomorrow. I’m going to have about 100 thoughts instead of the 10 I had last week. By the way, the dirty little secret of all of this (despite the slight) is that it’s really, really fun to debate and talk about.
