Oklahoma State’s Sack Numbers This Season Are Incredibly Impressive
The Oklahoma State defense is tied for 1st in the nation in sacks this season, but that doesn’t really tell the whole story. The more your opponent passes, the more sack opportunities you have.
I like to look at the number of sacks f sacks per dropback (calculated as opponent passes + sacks). Using this calculation, OSU is 3rd in sacks at 12.4 percent. In other words, we get a sack one in every eight times the opposing QB drops back to pass.
“[Emmanuel Ogbah is] an important part,” said defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer on Wednesday. “The front seven as a whole has done a good job of pressuring the quarterback. Sometimes it’s him alone, sometimes it’s other guys feeding the quarterback to him and sometimes it’s him feeding the quarterback to someone else. It all works together.”
