OSU Is Probably Going to Play Both Quarterbacks at the Same Time in Bedlam
J.W. Walsh spilled the beans on Monday. Mike Yurcich has a “BEDLAM ONLY, DO NOT TOUCH BEFORE THANKSGIVING” page in the playbook. Here’s what Walsh told the Oklahoman.
“There are some plays in there where it’s me and Mason on the field,” Walsh said on Monday. “It will be a lot of fun. It’s exciting to do it in practice, so to do it in a game will be just that much more exciting.”
We’ve actually seen it once before during this season. The pair was on the field at the same time briefly against Central Arkansas. If I remember correctly, Walsh was at QB and Rudolph was split out wide. Or maybe it was the other way around. I don’t remember.
Gundy addressed this whole thing earlier in the fall.
“We’ve had a couple plays that we’ve used them in (practice), you’ve seen us,” said Gundy. “We worked on it in preseason. We use it every now and then and at sometime that could show up, just depending on the team we’re playing, what the structure is of their defense, strengths and weaknesses.
“It’s either two or three plays where they’re both in the backfield at the same time. I would suspect at some point that we’ll use that. It’s not really any secret, but if you do, you still gotta get lined up and defend it.”
So yeah, that’s going to be a lot of fun.
