OSU Kicker And All-Time Third Leading Scorer Cary Blanchard Dies at Age 47
Former OSU kicker Cary Blanchard died this week at the age of 47. That makes me feel really old and really sad. Blanchard is No. 3 all time in school history in scoring. Here are the top five.
- Dan Bailey: 370 points
- Barry Sanders: 360 points
- Cary Blanchard: 331 points
- Ben Grogan: 329 points
- Thurman Thomas: 302 points
According to KFOR, there are unconfirmed reports his death was caused by a heart attack. He played for nine seasons in the NFL. You can watch a cool video on Cary and his wife Mindi from when they were in college from the 36-40 minute mark below. It was 25 years ago but it feels like about 65. Also, Mindi’s sweatshirt is incredible. Would wear.
