OSU Offers In-State Prospect as Cowboy Back
The crop of talent in the 2017 class in Oklahoma continues to unfold in the last few weeks, and the Pokes are throwing their hat in the ring early with several top prospects within the state.
They made another move on Tuesday evening, with an official scholarship offer going out to Putnam City West tight end/ defensive end Nick Robinson.
Robinson is a 6-foot-4, 220-lb., prospect who has picked up offers from Memphis, Indiana, and Toldedo within just the past three days, now adding the Cowboys to his list.
He totaled 40 catches for 713 yards and 13 TD’s his junior season. With his size and listed speed, Robinson could bring a very nice versatile arsenal to Stillwater and the Cowboy back position. Putnam City West uses him at defensive end, lining him up on offense at tight end and wide receiver.
Part of the Cowboys strategy is the development of the hybrid tight end “Cowboy back” position, which helps in run blocking and, as we saw in 2015, also plays an integral role in the passing game. Robinson would be an interesting fit here, and the coaches are making an early move on him.
