OSU Polo Barn Collapses, Team Needs Help
Hey, not just a football and basketball blog here.
Did you know Oklahoma State has a polo club? I didn’t, but it does and the squad needs your help. The barn where the team stores its horses recently collapsed and the owner of the land it’s on is selling. So they’re looking to build a new barn and attain some new land upon which to keep the animals.
I recently exchanged emails with secretary of the polo club, Quinn Llewellyn, and he told me the situation they’re in and why they’re looking to raise money instead of going to the athletic department for it (they can’t!)
“The OSU Polo Club is a club team that is sponsored through the Colvin Recreation Center,” said Llewellyn. “The NCAA does not recognize polo, but we are with the United States Polo Association and it is the only way for schools to play and compete in polo as an intercollegiate sport.
“We are fully student run and funded so money is always a stretch for us. Recently due to high winds our barn has collapsed. The wind blew the west wall out and then the roof caved in completely. The barn housed: Tack (saddles, bridles, girths, saddle pads, risers, other horse riding equipment), mallets, balls, lawn mowers, a tractor, two stalls for the horses when they were sick, and other miscellaneous equipment. Basically our whole club revolves around having a barn.”

Which they don’t have currently (as you can see from the photo at the top). If you’re interested in helping out the polo club, they would very much appreciate it. If you want to help them raise the $10K they’re looking for, you can do so here.
