OSU Recruit LaMarcus Morton Has Monster Game in Win Over Liberty-Eylau

Oklahoma State verbal commitment LaMarcus Morton, a senior receiver and defensive back for the Gilmer Buckeyes, kicked off the football season with a bang on Thursday evening against Liberty-Eylau.

In a 61-55 victory, Morton recorded 10 receptions for a monster 259 yards and 3 touchdowns. The first score came in the form of a 74-yard bomb early in the game. Morton got hit in stride and made a nice grab in triple coverage. He took off from the line of scrimmage and the defensive back was already a step behind:

The second score was more of a “throw it up and pray” moment for Poppy Brown, Gilmer’s new QB who broke the passing record with 576 yards on the evening. Morton happened to be in a good spot and set himself up in the vision of Brown just before he got pummeled in the backfield:

His third TD on the night was a simple throw in the flat to him and he did all the work from there. The new QB for the Buckeyes seems to have a great connection with Morton, who was easily the most explosive athlete on the night. He could be in line for a monster year at receiver.

Morton is rated as a four-star prospect by ESPN and the 6-foot talent who has 14 scholarship offers may be in line for another big year after earning a first team all-district selection last season at receiver and second team selection at defensive back.
