OSU Safety Recruit to Start at QB for Denton Guyer
One of the more versatile prospects in Oklahoma State’s 2017 recruiting class is going to get a chance to showcase his talent at yet another position on the gridiron this weekend. Thabo Mwaniki, who is committed to play safety for OSU, is Denton Guyer’s leading receiver this season; however, due to an injury to Guyer’s starting quarterback, Mwaniki is sliding into the starting gig this weekend, according to Adam Boedeker of the Denton Record Chronicle.
Guyer is 5-2 on the season, coming off a disappointing loss to the No. 1 team in Texas in the powerhouse Allen Eagles. Lead by head coach John Walsh and Mwaniki, Guyer faces a tough Wylie football team, and with their starting QB out, Mwaniki will be heavily relied on, especially as a runner where he has shown freaky athleticism and shiftiness.
Fortunately for John Walsh, he’s had a pretty good track record in producing dual-threat quarterbacks at Guyer.
