OSU Will Add Graduate Transfer Lenzy Pipkins

Graduate transfer U continues to build it’s already impressive resume. For a fourth straight year, the Cowboys are expected to add a veteran defensive player to the group in Louisiana-Monroe cornerback Lenzy Pipkins. Pipkins confirmed to PFB that he does intend to transfer to OSU. The transfer was first reported by gopokes.com.

If there ever was a year when a veteran presence will be needed at cornerback, it’s this year. The Cowboys return several players with experience at the position in Ashton Lampkin and Ramon Richards. But beyond that, the group of cornerbacks is extremely young and inexperienced with the biggest loss being all Big 12 performer Kevin Peterson from last years crew. The 2016 recruiting class consisted of a large haul at the position with three true freshmen in AJ Green, Madre Harper and Rodarius Williams, and also junior college transfer Malik Kearse joining the program. But another veteran presence in Pipkins is a big get for Gundy and the gang.

Pipkins was a late bloomer on the recruiting radar, which explains why he only held one offer coming out of high school. He played just one season of high school football, where he recorded 52 tackles, seven pass breakups and an interception as a senior for Mansfield.

Last season, Pipkins had 48 tackles, played in 13 games and made 10 starts. He had three interceptions during his time as ULM, per his athletics dept. bio. He is expected to graduate in May and will be eligible via the graduate transfer rule for next season.
