How OSU’s Track Program Continues to Benefit Mike Gundy

By now you all know of the absolute work Marcus Arroyo has been doing on (very literally) a global level. Arroyo has delivered a thunder and lightning running back package to head coach Mike Gundy in 2017 in the form of J.D. King (Georgia) and Chuba Hubbard (Canada).

It’s the latter that has everyone (even Dez Bryant!) chomping at the bit for signing day to hurry up and get here so OSU can make it official (now you know why Mike Gundy is in favor of an early signing period).

Hubbard is a Canadian sprinter and his film is a LOL-worthy show. His sprinting is something that’s important to him.

“I’m someone who believes anything is possible,” Hubbard told Bleacher Report in March. “The Olympics are something I’ve dreamed about since I was six years old. It’s something I’ll strive for.”

Which brings us back to sprinters coach Diego Flaquer and the OSU Track and Field team.

“It’s really a big advantage for us in recruiting,” Mike Gundy told the Tulsa World in 2014 about Flaquer’s development of football players. “A number of skill players that we’re chasing after, student-athletes we’re recruiting, are sprinters.”

At the time it was Tyreek Hill.

Now? Hubbard.

“Really, Oklahoma State is the right place,” Hubbard told Go Pokes. “I know that I can do everything in my dreams there to play football and run track. My track coach talked to the track coach there and knows him a little bit. It is the right place to make my dreams come true.”

Maybe it’s time for Gundy to get Flaquer on the payroll.
