RB Commit La’Darren Brown Will Be Fun to Watch
I took a dive into why running back commit Justice Hill could contribute early in his career yesterday, which you can read here.
I want to evaluate OSU’s other running back commitment, La’Darren Brown – a Desoto High product with freakish speed. He’s no slouch himself.
Brown held offers from Arizona State, Oregon State, OSU, and others, and is a recruit who flew somewhat under the radar given his injury riddled junior season at Desoto. But he overcame injuries to become one of the best runners for Desoto, and his presence in the backfield simply cannot be ignored.
He’s a track mainstay at Desoto with track tendencies (as you can see from the highlight). He has the track finish to the goal line down to a T – something I’m sure Porter will drool over.
Brown is a five-foot-eight, 170-pound speedster who was clocked at a 4.39 40-yard dash in the summer. He has the potential to become a legitimate threat as a scatback early with his speed if he can put on some weight, and he also could contribute in kick return with his elusiveness and speed.
Just like Jeff Carr last year, he will need to get in the weight room to be a full time contributor, but even at 170 he could fill a role in the backfield early on as a change of pace back given his talent level and vision. Check out the video below.
