Recruiting Recap: Basketball Coaches Have Been Busy

Published

on

The Cowboy coaching staff has been hitting the recruiting trail hard this week. There’s still an iron or two left in the fire for the 2016 class depending on how things shake out, but most of the work this week was done looking towards 2017 and beyond. Here’s who picked up offers from the Pokes this week:

Keith Williams – 2017 Shooting Guard

This 6-5, 180-pound prospect is still a sleeper on the national scale, but he’s gaining plenty of attraction with scouts. He has offers from Dayton, Bowling Green, Hofstra, and Rutgers, and added Oklahoma State and Travis Ford’s St. Louis squad to his growing list this week.

Devontae Shuler – 2017 Combo Guard

Shuler was a target of Underwood’s during his tenure at Stephen F. Austin, and was a top target on South Carolina’s board during Lamont Evans tenure – who’s now working with Underwood on staff in Stillwater. He’s a consensus four-star guard from Columbia, SC, who also holds offers from USC, Clemson, OSU, Wofford, Wake Forest and others.

Jordan Tucker – 2017 Small Forward

6-foot-7, 205-pounds and is wanted by every blue blood in the country including Kansas, Arizona, Nova, Maryland and others. Consensus four-star prospect who can play inside and out and has a really good frame that makes him versatile enough to possibly grow into being a physical inside presence at the next level, adding to his intrigue with his unique ability to “get buckets” as the kids say.

Collin Sexton – 2017 Point Guard

Sexton is another four-star guard and high profile recruit. The 6-2, 175-pound prospect from Atlanta has offers from Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Georgia, K-State, Alabama, Seton Hall, and OSU. He averaged 28.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game as a junior per MaxPreps, shooting nearly 50% from the floor.

Brandon Rachal – 2017 Small Forward

Rachal is a freak athlete who can straight ball in basketball and football. He says he’s leaning more towards basketball, which is good because the 6-6, 190-pound wing is getting serious attention from big schools like Virginia, VCU, OSU, Creighton, Miami and more.

Jarrett Culver – 2017 Shooting Guard

Culver is coming out as one of the top prospects in the state of Texas whose hometown is Lubbock, Texas. He has offers from A&M, Texas Tech, OSU, Illinois and others. He’s been tearing it up recently on Nike’s EYBL circuit, and opened a recent game with 18 straight points. The 6-5 prospect who plays for Coronado is an amazing talent who can fill up the stat sheet quickly.

Bryan Trimble, Jr. – 2017 Shooting Guard

One of several shooting guards who picked up an offer this weekend from OSU. The 6-3, 190-pounder from Kansas City has offers from SMU, OSU, Georgia, and Florida State.

Russell Barlow – 2018 Power Forward

Barlow is the only power forward to pick up an offer from OSU this week. The three-star 6-8 prospect from Richardson, Texas, also has offers from Houston, Iowa State, and Texas A&M.

Tyrese Maxey – 2019 Shooting Guard

The Cowboys must be pretty confident in Maxey, already offering him a scholly after his freshman season. The Cowboys joined Baylor on the offer list for this 6-3 wing from Garland, Texas.
