Recruiting Recap: Basketball Coaches Looking to the Future

Published

on

Oklahoma State coaches hit the recruiting trail hard this week, with seven offers flying out the window to 2017 and beyond prospects with major intrigue. Here’s a recap from last week:

Jordan Goodwin – 2017 Shooting Guard

The 6-4 sharpshooter from Belleville, IL, has offers from Mizzou, SLU, Illinois, Texas A&M, Michigan State, UConn, Texas, Iowa and others. He’s picked up major attention over the past month with dominating performances with the St. Louis Eagles in Nike’s EYBL (Elite Youth Basketball League). He leads his team in scoring through seven games with 17.6, 10.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game.

Grant Sherfield – 2019 Point Guard

Sherfield is the second offer in the 2019 class. His recruitment is just taking off, and he’s already picked up offers from OSU, Baylor, and San Diego. He’s a 6-4 standout from Arlington, Texas, who averaged 21.3 points per game and finished second in the Dallas area with 2.7 three-pointers made per game.

Jarred Vanderbilt – 2017 Power Forward

Vanderbilt is a consensus five-star power forward from Houston who will have a pick of wherever he wants to play for in 2017. Ranked as the No. 1 power forward in 2017 by Scout and Rivals, Vanderbilt is a polished scorer who can work his way around the rim with ease and is a powerful presence down low defensively, too. He’s getting the full court press from John Calipari and his crew, but that’s not stopping Brad Underwood from trying to keep the semi-local talent close to home.

Jacobi Gordon – 2018 Small Forward

Gordon is a 6-8 wing from Houston who is another major profile, who has offers from OU, Miami, Oregon, TCU, Baylor, and others. He’s rated as a five-star prospect by ESPN.

Jared Ridder – 2017 Small Forward

Ridder is a Springfield, Mo. prospect with interest from Arkansas, Depaul, and other mid major schools. OSU is one his bigger offers to date for the 6-5 prospect who plays for Mokan Elite.

Ashton Hagans – 2019 Point Guard

Oklahoma State joined Tennessee as his second Div. I offer of the week, which was closely followed by Wake Forest on Monday. The Covington, GA native is a 6-3 prospect who is surely to blow up over the next year. Hes’s a fast, physical point guard who can stretch the floor in transition and finishes well around the rim. He could still improve in his overall vision seeing the floor, however he flashes major upside as a freshman with room to grow into a star at the next level.

Grayson Carter – 2018 Power Forward

Carter is a 6-8 banger from Bishop Dunne, home of Sugar Loaf Daniels. He’s already a hot commodity for the class of 2018, with offers from Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, SMU, K-State, Iowa State, and TCU. He’s a sophomore with big upside, who Big 12 teams are already fawning over. You can see why:

Quentin Grimes – 2018 Shooting Guard

This 6-4 shooting guard from Houston is already on my “all-american names” list. He has offers from OU, Baylor, A&M, Tennessee, OU, and others, with room to grow his list being just a sophomore. A four-star prospect rated by Rivals, he’s one of the many talented players from the Houston area that OSU is now pursuing.

Jaedon Lee – 2018 Small Forward

You’ll never believe it – but Lee is a prospect from the Houston area who also picked up an OSU offer over the last week. A consensus four-star prospect, he has offers from Kentucky, Kansas, Arizona, and a whole list. He’s a 6-7 freak who will be an excellent wing player at the next level, and he can fill up the stat sheet with ease.

Jose Alvarado – 2017 Point Guard

Alvarado was offered by OSU, which adds to his list that includes Indiana, Georgia Tech, Miami and Rutgers, to name a few. The 6-foot prospect from New York is another baller who is being recruited from the area. The Pokes have been hitting the trail hard with connections in New York, and Alvarado is the latest prospect. With very good reason.
