The Reload is PFB’s recruiting recap, catching you up to speed on the latest news and rumors surrounding Oklahoma State recruiting, with an ear to the ground for what to expect in the future.

Former A&M Commit narrowing options

Former Texas A&M running back pledge Travis Etienne Jr., who opened his recruitment up just this week, is planning to narrow his list to 5 on Friday according to a recent tweet. Based on his recent activity I would expect OSU, Arkansas, Miss. State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Cal to all be vying for the final 5 spots with Alabama potentially in the running as well. I get the feeling Texas A&M could be a threat even with his decommitment, but at the moment I’d still lean towards a trend in the OSU direction. We’ll know more Monday but I would confidently assume OSU will be in the final 5 when he makes his list Monday.

Tulsa Union Safety Offered by Oklahoma State

The Pokes are now targeting at least two 2018 prospects from Tulsa Union in wide receiver CJ Moore and now safety Patrick Fields. Fields is a 6-0, 190-lb. prospect who has blown up over the past few weeks with offers No. 2, 3 and 4 coming from TCU, OU, then OSU. Of the predictions on where he will go to school, three analysts are siding with the Sooners. We’ll see if the OSU offer changes anything in respect to his recruitment.

2018 WR target visits Stillwater again

On the topic of Tulsa Union, 2018 standout receiver CJ Moore made another return trip to Stillwater this week, joined by 2018 DB Daylon Figures and 2019 RB/DB Darius Boone.

Whether or not we should read into his visits too much is something I don’t know, but I get the feeling that OSU is putting in the early groundwork to position themselves as the team to beat for the 6-4 Tulsa Monster. He also snuck in a pic with Barry J. during the visit:

Larry Boyd names OSU in top 4

Missouri offensive lineman Larry Boyd, who OSU has been recruiting heavily since the spring released his top 4 schools and included OSU in the final group:

The 6-5, 310-lb. mauler being from Trinity Catholic in St. Louis, is widely considered to be a Missouri lean. Boyd recently made trips to Illinois and Missouri, but I think the real contenders here are Mizzou, OSU, and Arkansas. And Arkansas is very close to their capacity for the 2017 class. Boyd has insisted he will take visits in the football season before making a decision. And if he does end up making visits, I think OSU will be in really good shape.

New offer to 2017 C Brandon Huffman

Brad Underwood made a big offer to a rising senior center/power forward prospect this week in 6-9 prospect Brandon Huffman. Huffman has exploded on the scene in the spring and summer eval period, with 11 of his total 16 offers coming since May of this year. He can run the floor well, plays aggressively on defense and has a pretty solid game with his back to the basket — which is a rare find for post players anymore.
