The Reload is PFB’s recruiting recap, catching you up to speed on the latest news and rumors surrounding Oklahoma State recruiting, with an ear to the ground for what to expect in the future.

No. 1 overall prospect Marvin Wilson omits OSU from new top 10

We reported over the weekend that Wilson, the No. 1 overall player in the 2017 class, named OSU among his top 10 schools in a video released by Campus Insiders. However, he revised his list and his new top 10 no longer features the Cowboys.

It’s not a real surprise, seeing that he seems pretty focused in on OU, LSU, Florida State, and others. Wilson made a visit to Stillwater last weekend, so being in his top 10 for OSU is at the least good publicity. However it doesn’t appear the Cowboys are a school he’s focusing on at the moment.

Regardless, here’s a video of the always entertaining Wilson from a Rivals camp over the weekend.

Pair of five-star point guards visited OSU

Hoops recruiting is so backwards compared to football recruiting. This is a prime example — two five-star point guards in the 2017 class made visits to Stillwater last week, and there was nothing discussed on twitter/social media until after.

The first visit came from Norman point guard Trae Young according to a report from Scout’s Evan Daniels. Young has made numerous visits to Stillwater obviously in part because of his location in regard to Stillwater. Young is the No. 21 player in the ’17 class per ESPN, and a five-star player who is being courted by Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, and a handful of others.

The second visit came from Georgia point guard Collin Sexton. Sexton told 247sports after the visit that his trip to Stillwater “went really good. The campus is really nice … Everything is pretty cool.”

Per Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog.com, Sexton says OSU feels confident in his ability to become an immediate impact. “They’re telling me I can come in and be an impact at a program right away. They’re saying I can learn and I can play early.”

Travis Etienne Commits to A&M, Keeping Options Open

Jennings, LA running back Travis Etienne made somewhat of a surprise move over the weekend by committing to Texas A&M. The standout tailback, however, is still planning to take visits, including one to Stillwater soon. Although he’s committed, I still get the feeling OSU is in fairly good shape, especially if he is still intending to visit. It’s pretty clear OSU wants to take one more running back in the ’17 class, and Etienne seems to still be at or near the top of that wish list.

New safety commit shoots up rankings

Does Mike Gundy have a pull with the recruiting and scouts on the ground? Either that or scouts were sleeping hard on Kris McCune, one of OSU’s four verbal pledges over the weekend. McCune is a 6-1 safety from Mesquite. Before the weekend, McCune was unranked (heck, not even found on google search!). And at the time I am writing this, McCune has jumped from unranked to the No. 2 rated commit in OSU’s 2017 class per 247 rankings. Quite a big jump. And if you watch his highlights, it’s with good reason. OSU found themselves a good one. The big-timer is an incredible athlete who had a phenomenal season at running back. However his big frame and physical play make him an ideal fit at safety/defensive back, where Gundy has shown he loves taller athletes in the defensive back field.

2019 QB visits Stillwater

Grant Gunnell, a 2019 prospect who has already received a scholarship offer from OSU, made a trip to Stillwater on Monday and posted the following to his twitter account.

https://twitter.com/grantgunnell5/status/742435269886935040

Gunnell was a MaxPreps freshman all-american and at 6-foot-6, it’s only a modest guess he’ll be a hot commodity as his recruiting heats up in his high school career. OSU is doing what they do best — getting in on the ground floor to try and sneak him away early.

2018 In-state Guard Visits Stillwater

Carl Albert (OK) guard Trey’Von Hopkins made a visit to Stillwater on Monday. The 6-3 sharpshooter already holds offers from Nebraska, Tulsa, and Boise. Although he hasn’t been offered by OSU, I think he’s a name to keep an eye on moving forward.

New Hoops Offers

Two new offers went out this weekend from Brad Underwood and his staff. The first went to 2019 guard Charles Smith IV of Westbury Christian, Tx. Smith is a tall guard listed at 6-5 who already has offers from TU, Baylor, NC State, TCU and Georgia Tech.

The second offer went to 6-foot-4 class of 2018 shooting guard Kyler Edwards of Arlington, Texas.
