The Reload: Sharpshooter Planning Visit, Larry Boyd Lays Out Timeline, Mbanasor Offered by Hogs

The Reload is your recruiting recap, catching you up to speed on the latest news and rumors surrounding Oklahoma State recruiting, with an ear to the ground for what to expect in the future.

2017 Small Forward Planning Visit

6-foot-7 wing Jared Ridder from Springfield, whom the Cowboy coaching staff has been pursuing for the better part of the spring, is planning to make a visit to Stillwater soon. Ridder is one of the many elite athletes for Mokan Elite, an AAU squad that also features OSU targets Trae Young and several others. After a visit to Xavier earlier this week, Ridder is planning to make a visit to Stillwater on June 20, followed by a possible trip to Ames, where the Cyclones are trying to jump in late after an offer on Tuesday.

All signs point to Ridder making his decision before month’s end. And assuming all goes well for his visit, I get the sense that OSU, Arkansas and Xavier appear to be the top schools competing for his services at this point.

(Update: 8:18 pm): Jared Ridder has committed to Xavier.

Another Offensive Line Offer

We noted in the last Reload that several offensive line offers came about earlier this week and another has emerged with the offer to 2017 offensive tackle Derek Kerstetter. The 6-foot-5, 290-pound prospect from San Antonio has offers from Texas Tech and Houston, Illinois, Kansas, and other smaller schools. It seems the coaching staff is really trying to put an emphasis lately on improving the offensive line recruiting, especially after the decommitment of Meekers Adrian Wolford, who now is committed to A&M.

2017 OL Target Larry Boyd Dishes on Recruitment

Among the new offers this week was Missouri prospect Larry Boyd, the top ranked guard in Missouri by Scout. Boyd attended a recent camp where he was interviewed and dished about his latest recruitment.

“I’m up to 17 offers now. Monday, my latest offer came from Oklahoma State. I’ve been building a rapport with the coaches over a span of months…” Boyd said in the interview.

Boyd mentioned the OSU coaches see him as an OL but also that his versatility will allow him to line up anywhere from guard, to center, to tackle. [Side note: This would be amazing.]

Furthermore, he says he will plan to visit Stillwater before the season starts and “try to catch a game or two” this year. Although OSU just offered, don’t expect a decision anytime soon. He says he’ll likely take his decision all the way to signing day.

2017 DL Nelson Mbanasor update

Mbanasor, a defensive end commit who chose OSU in the last month, is still seeing his stock go through the roof. Although he’s verbally committed to the Cowboys, that isn’t stopping schools from calling. And earlier today, Arkansas extended an offer.

It’s too early to be concerned about his pledge to OSU, seeing he just committed. But it’ll be a situation to keep an eye on down the line as signing day approaches. OSU feels they’ve got an under the radar steal before he blew up nationally (although he does have 20+ offers). Whether or not they can hang on to his commitment as schools continue to call will be something I’ll be keeping a close eye on as we head into the fall.
