Report: Oklahoma State’s First Two Games of 2017 Changing Days

Published

Oklahoma State could open with two weekday games in 2017. First, with Tulsa on a Thursday night in August at Boone Pickens Stadium. Then against South Alabama on a Friday the very next week.

The Oklahoma State-Tulsa season opener is expected to be moved to Thursday, Aug. 31, for television purposes. The Cowboys and Golden Hurricane are scheduled to open the season Sept. 2, but multiple sources said the game will be moved.

Thankfully nothing bad every happens on weeknights with a title-contending Oklahoma State football team. I’m just kidding. I don’t mind these moves.

I like the Thursday night opener a lot. That has 62-31 written all over it, and it’s always fun to get the first one out of the way so you can enjoy the rest of the college football opening weekend. The South Alabama game, I presume, is being moved because there’s a good rattler hunt in Mobile that weekend for the head ball coach to attend.

Tulsa went 10-3 last year and beat Central Michigan 55-10 in the Miami Beach Bowl. Yeah, that Central Michigan. South Alabama went 6-7 and lost to Air Force in the Arizona Bowl.
