The 10 Best Quotes From Bedlam 2015

There was a lot of reflection tonight on what was a tremendous year for both teams. Mike Gundy, Bob Stoops and their defensive coordinators look back on a combined 21-3 season record.

1. Gundy on what sank OSU

“They’re a good team. They’ve got big, strong running backs that can make plays, and we bounced off of them and didn’t tackle well. We made a few plays on offense, but when we turn the ball over, it obviously hurts us.

2. Gundy on OSU’s conditioning

“As I said earlier, they had some big plays, and we looked tired. That’s my fault. I’ve got to do a better job of managing our players’ bodies and giving them a chance to play harder. We looked tired on the kickoff they returned, and there were a number of times when their backs bounced off of our guys. We hadn’t really seen that much this year. I don’t want to take away from those guys, though. They’re good players.”

3. Gundy on going 10-2

“Tonight, I was disappointed because the score will take away some from the players and what they were able to accomplish this year. I don’t want to take anything away from the players and what they were able to accomplish this year. They have brought a lot to us, and they continue to build this program.”

4. Glenn Spencer on going 10-2

“Maybe down the road we can reflect on that, but right now we can’t. Right now, it’s just anger, disappointment, hurt for the kids that we didn’t give a better showing, especially for those seniors. We’ll reflect on that later, just not now.”

5. Glenn Spencer on the run defense

“Credit them. They did a good job and ran through us. We just didn’t tackle well enough. It was my biggest fear, and it’s what happened.”

6. Seth Jacobs on the season

“Looking at the big picture, we’re very blessed to be in this position. A lot of people around the country don’t get to say that they’re in a bowl game or that they’re 10-2, and looking at it overall, we’re not happy with how it came out tonight, but we had a good season.”

7. J.W. Walsh on his role this year

“It’s been fun. I always say I’ve had the best times a quarterback could ask for, and I have the best job in the country. Mason (Rudolph) did a good job all year, the coaches did a good job all year and the offense did a good job all year so when you get to come in when I did, the opportunities are there. The coaches always had great plans and this year’s been a lot of fun.”

8. Bob Stoops on beating OSU

“Even though it was a tough game, Oklahoma State has had a great year. I’ve got a ton of respect for Mike (Gundy) and his staff and the way they’ve worked through the year. They’ve had an excellent season. I’m elated at the way my players performed. They deserve the credit making plays out there.

9. Bob Stoops on his team

“We felt we had a really good football team, regardless of what the outside perception is. No one knows they’re going to win it in January or at the start of September, but I knew we had a good football team — better than what we thought.”

10. Mike Stoops on J.W.

“It took a while to figure what was going on and how they were going to use him. We made some adjustments to our calls, we baited them into a couple of things and they got out of it. It just took a while to get a rhythm for the game.”
