The Big 12 Bowl Matchups are Unbelievable

Published

on

I’m not sure you could have scripted it any better for the Big 12. Its bowl season matchups are pretty much perfect. Would I have liked to have seen a different SEC opponent for Oklahoma State than Ole Miss? Sure. Would I prefer OU-Bama in Round 1 of the playoffs? Yep. But generally these Big 12 matchups are pretty much perfect.

Let’s go through each game with lines.

OU-Clemson (Sooners by 3)

OU is almost definitely winning this game. Clemson is good, but not “14-0 and playing for the national title” good. The ACC is a bit of a charade and OU has it on cruise control right now. Plus, OU’s “revenge tour” (whatever) needs one more tally …

Oklahoma State-Ole Miss (Rebs by 6.5)

I like this game a lot. I would love it if the opponent was Florida or LSU or Georgia. It’s a bummer that OSU has now gotten Ole Miss three times in bowl games since the 2004 Cotton Bowl.

TCU-Oregon (Frogs by 1)

Hoping for a color-on-color uni matchup. I presume Boykin is playing and I presume TCU will win.

Baylor-UNC (Bears by 3)

Poor Baylor. Not only do they fall to the Russell Sweatpants Bowl but they get a pissed off UNC that got screwed out of a chance to tie the ACC title game. And we don’t know who their QB is. And they’re still favored.

Texas Tech-LSU (Tigers by 6)

Pray for Tech’s run defense. No … really.

West Virginia-Arizona State (Devils by 2.5)

Feels like WVU wins this game. But seriously, how many big name teams can one conference ask to see in bowl season? My only regret is that there’s no Big 10 on the schedule.

Arkansas-KSU (Hogs by 11.5)

OK, this one might be ugly.
