The First Week

As I was redesigning the site my wife made me promise that when I was done I was done.

I’ve made a few late-night tweaks she doesn’t know about but other than that I think I like the way everything is running.

My biggest goal now is to keep giving you things, to make this site somewhere you enjoy coming and enjoy learning and chatting and generally just having fun.

I used to think of it as a sort of Drudge Report for OSU fans but maybe someday, as it continues to grow and we continue to bring in more terrific contributors, it can become more like a Grantland for OSU fans.

Maybe.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to you guys for reading and for being a part of the community.

I don’t make much money off the site, and until Google Adwords happens upon a Count of Monte Cristo-like treasure, I probably won’t.

But that’s OK because the process of building something, a legitimate website1 with legitimate readers means something to me.

For some reason unbeknownst to my wife, family, and a lot of my friends, it’s important.

So thanks, again. I’ll keep giving, you keep reading and let’s have some fun this fall.

  1. I can’t speak for all the readers, just myself, but PFB is my go-to reading (like Daily Thunder during the playoffs) from Aug-Jan. Gina does a good job, but it doesn’t deliver with the passion, enthusiasm and snark. I recommended you open a PayPal Donations or something. I know I would throw in $5 a month because I appreciate your hard work. I bet a lot more readers would do the same just to help out, because we care. If there’s anything we took away from last season, it’s that. OSU fans are one of a kind. Family. You never know unless you try. Keep up the good work.

    • Thanks Kevin, I’ll consider that.

    • I agree. Let your readers directly support you.

I know I really need a pistolsfiringblog Tee shirt for this upcoming fall.

I’d also like to donate $15 for 1 year of registering pistolsfiring.net domain name. Even if you don’t want to make it the primary URL you could just forward it.

    • I would donate as well! Either by chipping in a few bucks via paypal or buying a t shirt. Love the blog. Wouldn’t want to see it go away.

  2. Your site is on my bookmark toolbar between ESPN and CNN… One of those links I habitually open daily to see what’s going on in the world.  Keep it up and I agree with Kevin, you might as well open up an optional donation page, sure couldn’t hurt.  Good work should be rewarded with at least a little compensation.  Can’t wait until August.

  3. So what makes new media legitmate? Surely the readership of this site is within the same ballpark as Barry Trammel’s “blog” site. Maybe some hard facts would make them change your mind.

You just think I didn’t know about the extra edits. A wife always knows.

  5. I’ve tried commenting twice and it seems I’m not getting approved or Disqus hates me.

Edit: of course it now goes through.
