1. Cocaine found in Gallagher-Iba – I’ve read this story four times and I still don’t understand it or know what to make of it. My first question is, how long has it been there? Was Bobby K. doing lines on the locker room floor during the aftermath of the 1945 title? Is Sean Sutton involved? JamesOn? I mean, think about the endless number of possibilities this presents. (Stillwater News Press)

2. Really interesting article in the Star Telegram about recruiting rankings – They took the classes of 2006 and retroactively assigned points based on achievement over the last four years. OSU slides in at third in the south (which is where they were “ranked” originally) behind OU and Texas Tech. It starts getting really intriguing when you realize how bad Texas’ recruits over that time have been (“ranked” 1st, finished 4th). Newspapers and websites should run this feature more often, I love it. (Star Telegram)

3. Josh Cooper 2.0 looks to play early – I wonder how many guys recruited by Texas can say the following: “I never even considered playing college football until last year”? (NewsOK)

4. James Castleman’s coach on why he chose OSU over Tech – “They did it the right way and the professional way. I think just the overall continuity that Oklahoma State has, of course the facility upgrades, they’re coming off one of the better seasons they’ve ever had, they’ve got a lot of guys coming. There are a lot of ingredients there that make Oklahoma State appealing to a young man.” Pretty high praise from a high school coach. (Scout)

5. Andy Glockner has OSU out in his latest bracket update – “The one-point OT loss at league minnow Texas Tech may be a killer. The Pokes basically have to beat Missouri and Oklahoma at home this week ahead of a rough four-game run after that.” (Sports Illustrated)

“We’ve got two games at home this week but that doesn’t guarantee us anything.” -Travis Ford

Unfortunately he’s right, especially with snowpocalypsegeddon blowing in and basically turning Mizzou into a neutral site game.

The Big 12 is the only conference in the nation with every team in the top 150 of the RPI right now. I realize the Big East has 29 teams but still, it’s worth mentioning.

This is both unequivocally endearing and utterly revealing in terms of college athletics…

I nabbed this off Twitter at 9AM on Tuesday, Febuary 1 – might be a little late fellas?

Great write-up here by Royce Young on what makes a basketball player clutch and why Kobe is not. Also, The Dagger looks at Texas’ chances to run the Big 12 table.
