The Quarterback Carousel Was Crazy Sunday

Published

on

Oklahoma State wasn’t the only program to lose their quarterback recruit on Sunday. The quarterback carousel was in full swing this weekend, with several flipped commitments, decommitments, and lots of interesting scenarios opening up.

Oregon’s long-time commitment Seth Green, flipped his commitment from the Ducks to Minnesota. And the other OSU (Ohio State) lost their quarterback as Tristen Wallace, a top-ranked quarterback from Desoto, flipped from the Buckeyes to Oregon. Which has now caused long-time Maryland commit and highly ranked prospect, Dwayne Haskins, to reconsider his commitment to Maryland… and things could be heating up between Haskins and the Buckeyes, given the fact Haskins’ made an official visit to Columbus over the weekend. Which could have even lead to Wallace’s decision to flip in the first place.

Recruitment season is in full swing, and as some analysts have termed it, “Bloody Sunday” was nothing short of entertaining in the recruiting world. One decision impacts others, and thus the dominoes are set in motion. While it is easy to hit the panic button as a fan, it’s important to look at all these scenarios and keep in mind that several programs are in the same sticky situations with one of the most important positions on a football team. As the quarterback dominoes continue to fall, it will be interesting to see where the dust settles… and how the situation develops in the coming weeks.

While most of these current scenarios likely won’t impact the Cowboys, it shows just how easily one decision can affect others situations. With Starkel’s decision to open things up, this could potentially impact other recruits seeking a chance to play in the Big 12 or those who may already be committed to rethink their current options. Either way, this is no time to panic as a fan. They call it a carousel for a reason, and the Cowboys ability to scout hidden talent is one that should be settling for those concerned about the current QB recruiting predicament.
