Thomas Hatch Has An Awesome Message For OSU Fans

Thomas Hatch recently signed with the Chicago Cubs for something close to $574,000 which means his college baseball career has come to an end. And what a career it was.

He hopped on Twitter to announce the news and thank OSU fans and everyone involved for the last three years. I thought what he said was pretty awesome.

“It’s a bittersweet day for me,” wrote Hatch. “As exciting as it is to be able to start my professional journey with the Chicago Cubs, I close the chapter on my time here at Oklahoma State. It’s hard for me to express in words what being a Cowboy means to me, but I will try my best.

“Stillwater was my second home as a kid. My family routinely made the trip to Stillwater to watch whatever sport was in season. I admiringly gazed down at Gallagher-Iba Arena, Lewis Field (BPS) and Allie P. Reynolds Stadium imagining Larry Reece call my name as I stepped onto the playing surface. Fortunately for me, I was blessed with the ability to live oud my dream. I graced Oklahoma State across my chest with pride for three short years.

“Three of the best years of my life. Three years that gave me lifelong friendships, evelasting memories and taught me invaluable life lessons. Although my time as a student-athlete is finished, I will forever be an Oklahoma State Cowboy. Thank you for the love and support.”

It echoes what his coach Josh Holliday said after the CWS.

“Our kids brought us here,” Holliday told Go Pokes. “They brought us here. Tommy Hatch brought us here. Corey Hassel brought us here. Trey Cobb and Donovan Walton. I could go down the list. They brought OSU to the College World Series. They did it with unity, they did it with pride, and they just are really special. Our relationships and what we’ve accomplished as a group and the impression they’ve left at our school and, more importantly, for us as a program, as we try to grow into consistently great, these kids took the biggest step and the toughest one. The only one left was to win the whole thing.”

Best of luck to Hatch as he makes his way to The Show.
