Twin Brothers Zach and Cade Smith Chose OSU Because of Boone Pickens Stadium
Oklahoma State loaded up on a total of 12 preferred walk-ons in the 2016 recruiting class, among them were twin brothers Zach and Cade Smith from Pleasanton, Texas. Both players committed several months ago despite other offers from smaller Div. I schools.
When asked why they committed to OSU, they both agreed on three words: “Boone Pickens Stadium,” they told the Pleasanton Express.
Zach, a 6-4 linebacker, said a chance to play in the Big 12 was a big opportunity. “My dad played at Texas Tech and I have always been a big fan of the Big 12 growing up,” he told PFB in an interview earlier last year. “It’s always been a dream of mine, so getting the opportunity from the amazing coaching staff at OSU was one I just couldn’t pass up.”
Added Cade: “I took an unofficial visit to Stillwater and just fell in love.”
Cade, a 6-4 225-pound prospect, was the only defensive end recruited as a preferred walk on for the Pokes.
Whether they are unranked or five-star prospects, it’s good to hear the Boone size investment in facility upgrades is making a difference in the eyes of recruits.
