Watch: Joel Klatt Shows How the CFB Playoff Committee is Biased
Joel Klatt doesn’t know the criteria for making the College Football Playoff either, but he does have an interesting theory. Klatt proposes that there’s a bias from the committee and compares their top 25 to the AP Top 25.
The crux of his argument? Of the seven teams ranked in the AP Top 25 in the Big 12 and Pac-12, zero are ranked higher by the College Football Playoff committee. Six of 10 Big 10 and SEC teams are ranked higher by the CFB Playoff committee.
Fascinating stuff. Joel Klatt is the man, by the way. I said that last week when he called the OSU-TCU game before he was repping the Pokes.
And he’s not wrong. Everyone is biased in a certain direction. All of us. All humans. The problem is when the most powerful people in the room are all biased in the same direction. That’s been an issue for the committee in the past and will be going forwards as well.
