Barry J. Sanders Will Officially Visit Oklahoma State This Weekend
Oklahoma State signed two running backs in their 2016 recruiting class – Justice Hill and LaDarren Brown. But three new faces at running back will join the program later this summer thanks to Barry J. Sanders’ decision to transfer from Stanford and use his final year of eligibility in Stillwater.
Although Barry J. probably has a pretty good feel for the school he’s committed to join later this year (his dad won a Heisman trophy for OSU and everything), he’s still going through the recruiting checklist like any prospect would. Which means he is allowed an official recruiting visit, which he intends to take this weekend according to CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd.
Sanders had 315 rushing yards in his career at Stanford including four touchdowns. But he never was quite able to carve out a prominent role in the offense, in part because he found himself behind workhorse backs Tyler Gaffney, then Christian McCaffrey. And also partly because Sanders’ shifty running style was a slightly odd pairing for a power running football team like Stanford.
Barry J. obviously won’t get a chance to play in the spring game considering he still has yet to wrap up his final semester in Palo Alto. But it will give him a pretty good look into the situation he’ll be jumping into, and the competition he’ll be up against to try and find a more distinguished role in the offense in Stillwater later this summer.
