King of Triplets
Mason, Justice Hill and James Washington were named college football’s best triplets by CBS yesterday.
1. Oklahoma State – QB Mason Rudolph, RB Justice Hill, WR James Washington
Two thirds of Oklahoma State’s trifecta are possible first-round draft picks in next spring’s NFL Draft. Rudolph threw for more than 4,000 yards as a junior and has all his weapons back. Those weapons include Washington, a 1,300-yard receiver from the fall who’s one of the game’s most explosive big-play threats. Justice Hill rounds out the group after leading all freshman running backs nationally last fall with 1,142 rushing yards. [CBS Sports]
Just shocking, right? Ahead of USC’s blond bomber and Ronald Jones is impressive. Insane that two likely-first round picks will be playing catch at Boone Pickens Stadium on a weekly basis.
I want someone to rank college football’s best quintets at some point. Who would the Pokes add, tackle Aaron Cochran and receiver Tyron Johnson? Go three wide and Marcel Ateman and Jalen McCleskey?
Completed Staff
Mike Boynton filled his staff yesterday with a southeastern transplant.
A native of Fulton, Kentucky, and a University of Kentucky alumnus, (Michael) Fly has spent the last six seasons at Florida Gulf Coast under Andy Enfield and Joe Dooley. He was part of the staff in 2012-13 that led the Eagles to the Sweet 16 as a 15-seed. Florida Gulf Coast has also reached the NCAA Tournament in each of the last two seasons.
Prior to working at FGCU, Fly spent three seasons as video coordinator under Leonard Hamilton at Florida State. [TulsaWorld]
If there’s the remotest possibility the 33-year-old Fly was responsible for “Dunk City” then he’s more than welcome in Payne County.
