Freshman Brandon Averette Named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week
Sophomore star Jawun Evans sat out on Saturday to nurse a minor shoulder injury.
But Oklahoma State didn’t miss a beat, thanks to a heroic performance from freshman point guard Brandon Averette, who set a career-high with 17 points in 37 minutes in their win over Tulsa.
As a result, Averette was tabbed as the Big 12 newcomer of the week.
Jawun Evans’ status is considered day-to-day, but it’s unclear if he will play in Wednesday’s game against Arkansas Pine Bluff. But if he does sit, it seems Averette is more than adequately prepared to step up in his absence in the short-term.
