According to an interview with USA Today, it appears Jawun Evans is not planning on returning to Stillwater for his junior season.

“It was just something I thought was best for me,” Evans said according to the article. “I felt like I was ready for it. I feel like I’ve been doing well, and my game is ready for the NBA.”

At the time of that article, Evans had still apparently not hired an agent.

Evans said he has not hired an agent yet, but he and his mother “have been going through the process.” USA Today

Immediately following OSU’s heartbreaking loss to Michigan in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Evans found himself in front of a camera in the locker room.

When asked if he was returning for his junior season, he replied, “As of right now, I’m going to talk it over with my family. But, more than likely.”

According to the article, his stance is now more concrete, with Evans stating, “I’m not going back.”

The third-team All-American and first-team All-Big 12 selection was reportedly told he is expected to be selected in the middle of the first round of next year’s NBA Draft.

According to Evans, this is more of a deciding factor than the three-year coaching carousel Oklahoma State will hopefully finish next season.

“That didn’t have anything to do with it,” he said, “because either way I go, I’d still have another coach.”

Most mock drafts like Draft Express have Evans going anywhere from late in the first round to early in the second. Here’s a deeper look at Evans’ draft projections.
