Oklahoma State Offers Pair of 2018 Quarterbacks on Thursday
Oklahoma State has their man in the 2017 class with Ellenwood, Ga. quarterback Jelani Woods. With the centerpiece complete for the ’17 class, coaches are actively recruiting 2018 prospects and made offers to a pair of dual-threat quarterbacks on Thursday.
Taye Barber – 5-10, 177
Oklahoma State became Barber’s first scholarship offer on Thursday. Barber is a dual-threat prospect from Cypress Springs, Texas, had 3,019 passing yards to go with 30 TD’s through the air. He also finished the season with 835 rushing yards and 10 TD’s, averaging more than 6 yards a carry per his HUDL film.
Very honored and blessed to say that I received my first offer from Oklahoma State University ! #AGTG #GoPokes ?? pic.twitter.com/uTOOFBmief

He was a second team all-district selection as a sophomore. Despite his 5-10 frame, Barber uses his elusiveness to manuever in and out of the pocket with ease, and showed in his film that he’s willing to stand in the pocket and deliver the ball down field, too. Cypress Springs used a lot of designed run packages to cater to his strengths last season, which makes him very intriguing given his ability to both run and pass very well. Per a source, Barber was offered a scholarship as an athlete – not a quarterback.
Tanner Mordecai – 6-2, 190
Mordecai is a fast-rising prospect from Waco, Texas, who picked up two offers on Thursday; one from Texas Tech, and the second coming from OSU. Mordecai is another dual-threat prospect who, at least on film, appears more comfortable pulling it down and picking up yards on the ground.

Contrasted with Barber, there seemed to be less designed runs and more impromptu scrambles from Mordecai. He has a pretty nice ability to sling it on the run, and on the times he did pass he delivered strikes with some extra zing when needed. In the pocket he seems a bit antsy when pressured, but he uses that to his advantage and makes some of his best plays on the move.
