Ranking The Five Best WRs In Oklahoma State History

Published

on

On our podcast on Monday, Carson Cunningham and I tried to rank the five best wide receivers in Oklahoma State history. This led to an interesting discussion which you can listen to below at the 29:25 mark.

Since not everyone listens to the podcast (although you should!), I wanted to post these on the blog for everyone to disagree with and comment on. Here are our five best WRs in school history as we discussed them on the podcast.

Carson Cunningham
  1. Justin Blackmon
  2. Rashaun Woods
  3. Dez Bryant
  4. Hart Lee Dykes
  5. James Washington

“I love Rashaun,” said Carson, “I think you have to have a qualifier for him considering the offense he played in and still has like three of the top five games of all time. He’s a clear No. 2 for me. If you put him No. 1 I’m not going to argue with it. I can’t ignore two Biletnikoffs and the production Blackmon had.”

Kyle Porter
  1. Rashaun Woods
  2. Justin Blackmon
  3. Dez Bryant
  4. Hart Lee Dykes
  5. James Washington

I should have Hart Lee higher. We both should. But we didn’t see him play live. We were four and three years old respectively so please forgive us. Washington is the best deep threat in school history and is primed to make a run at all of Rashaun’s career records his senior year if he stays. Somebody brought up that we should look at this on a per game basis, and I admit it gets a lot more interesting. Here are these five along with D’Juan Woods and Adarius Bowman.

Bowman! Now, I sort of discount this a bit because Bowman spent his first two seasons at North Carolina, and there’s something to be said for being a homegrown talent like Washington. Plus Bowman is getting only his junior and senior year numbers in there. If you look only at Washington’s junior year so far he’s averaging six catches for over 100 yards and a TD. Still, I didn’t remember what No. 12 accomplished in his short time in Stillwater (and is still accomplishing).
