The Reload: Translating Coaches Subtweets, 2018 Twins Planning Visit, Offensive Lineman Names Top Schools

The Reload is PFB’s recruiting recap, catching you up to speed on the latest news and rumors surrounding Oklahoma State recruiting, with an ear to the ground for what to expect in the future.

After his visit to Stillwater and his commitment to the Cowboys that soon followed, Coger opened up about his reasons to choose OSU, citing that the town and campus “just felt like home.” And in an interview with Star News Online’s Eric Detweiller, Coger also talked about Brad Underwood as a reason he chose OSU over K-State and Charlotte.

“I really made my decision off how good the coaching staff is,” said Coger. “Coach Underwood has an overall record of 79-11 the past three years (at Stephen F. Austin). He likes to win. And I like to win, too.”

Coger was planning to take his visits this week, but with his first visit being OSU, he now has time to prepare for his next journey. He’ll be on the Stillwater campus to report next Tuesday, July 5.

2017 WR Planning Visit

Cedarian Lamb, a longtime recruit from Foster, Texas, is set to likely make his college announcement within the next month. And while the former OU commit is seen by many to be leaning back towards the Sooners, OSU may get their chance to make one final impression on him before a decision. Here’s a tweet from Marcus Arroyo, referencing the “Foster Freak” AKA — Cedarian Lamb, who appears to be visiting. Lamb is a 6-3, 175-lb. target rated as a four star prospect.

Trinity Catholic Offensive Lineman Names OSU in top schools

OSU’s top offensive line target Larry Boyd, a Trinity Catholic High School (Missouri) prospect, released a list of his top 8 schools on twitter. OSU made the cut, along with Missouri, K-State, Minnesota, Arkansas, Iowa State, Wisconsin, and Illinois.

Boyd is a 6-5, 310-pound guard rated as a three-star prospect. Being from Missouri, most consider the Tigers to be the frontrunners in his recruitment — especially given that they were the first to uncover his talents late last year. But after a visit to Stillwater earlier this year, OSU stayed recruiting him and in good contact. And when OSU extended an offer at the beginning of June, it may have thrown a wrench in his recruitment. OSU has two commitments at O-line: Both newly minted pledges in Derk Kerstetter and Dan Moore Jr. I get the feeling that this will be a battle between OSU and Missouri to land him. Boyd recently said his recruitment will last until signing day. So if OSU doesn’t feel great about their chances over the next few months, I wouldn’t be shocked to see them move on to something more surefire with less risk. But at the moment, I’d say it’s 50/50 between OSU and Mizzou. Coach Adkins has laid a good groundwork so now is his chance to make a big impression and, hopefully, get him on campus a few times for a game before he makes a decision.

Twins Planning Summer Visit

Jordan and Joshua Moore are two big-time talented athletes in the 2018 class from Yoakum, Texas, who have both collected a ton of offers this spring and summer. And this summer, the two are planning a tour of some schools showing early interest, and that includes a trip to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Both Moore’s are can’t miss prospects, similar to the 2017 commits in Tylan and Tracin Wallace. If OSU can land the Moore twins, it would make three straight recruiting classes with a pair of twins.

Coaches subtweeting

Coaches aren’t allowed to tweet at recruits, but with the invention of subtweeting (tweeting about someone without specifically mentioning them), it makes things just as interesting. And for the most part it’s obvious who the conversation is about. On Monday, OSU coaches had themselves a little conversation about some of their recruits. And if you missed it, I’ll help translate.
